Both Finlay Crocker and Darelle Wilson have confirmed that they will be competing at Croft this weekend in the penultimate TCR UK meeting of the season. The news follows the pair missing the previous event at Oulton Park for unrelated reasons.
Pressure of work meant Crocker was forced to miss the Oulton Park event but, instead of withdrawing his entry, he offered Ash Sutton the chance to take over his Honda Civic Type-R for the meeting. The reigning BTCC champion then delivered the perfect day for the Verizon Connect Racing team, going fastest in Qualifying and winning both races.
Finlay Crocker commented: “I have to say that Ash did a fantastic job at Oulton Park and I was delighted with the way he represented Verizon Connect Racing. I was actually working all day on the Saturday and planned to watch the races back in the evening, but Ash rang me to thank me as I was getting home; that’s how I found out that he’d won both races! He’s set me an incredibly tough act to follow, but I’ll do my best at Croft.”
Wilson elected to miss Oulton Park in order to spend time working on the development of the DW Racing Vauxhall Astra. In particular, the team was concerned about the car’s handling and cornering ability and it’s understood that a number of solutions to those issues have been found.
DW Racing Team Coordinator Les Latham said: “TCR UK has been a real step up for us this year and we’re still learning the car. Unfortunately, we’re the only team running an Astra and so we have nobody in the UK to compare ourselves with. Missing the races at Oulton Park gave us the chance to take a really good look at the car and we think we’ve come up with some solutions to our problems. We know the Astra is strong in a straight line but we think we’ll be better in the corners at Croft as well.”
Sunday’s two races are scheduled to start at 12.25 and 15.15 and will be streamed live on Facebook, YouTube, the TCR websites, Motor Trend on Demand and the online platform of motorsport.tv
