DAT Racing supports TCR UK / Touring Car Trophy

DAT Racing is delighted to confirm its entry for the Donington round of the TCR UK championship. The team will again enter its Nana Jan’s sponsored SEAT TCR dsg car driven by Max Coates and run by Paul Sheard Racing, Congleton.

It will be a hectic weekend for Paul and his team as the Nana Jan’s car will also be competing at Oulton Park in the Britcar series on the Saturday.

DAT Racing is a staunch advocate of the TCR racing concept and supports Stewart Lines and Maximum Motorsports efforts to develop the TCR series in the UK after last years’s inaugural series.

Guy Colclough, Team Principal: “We really enjoyed Oulton Park and we learnt a lot about competing in the TCR one-make series. As a relatively new team, we are stepping up to the TCR series challenge and this jump was made really easy through Stewart’s encouragement and help. The paddock was remarkably friendly and many of the other teams helped us settle into this racing style. In fact, everyone tried to help us and that made for a really fun but competitive event.”

Primex sponsored, Max Coates, will drive the car at Donington and we are hoping that we will be competitive despite the obvious handicaps of our dsg set up compared to the other sequential cars.

Guy: “Having seen how quickly our dsg car performed in Britcar at Donington last week we think that the TCR UK event will provide a great showcase for these TCR cars. It will be fascinating to see how our dsg car compares to the sequentials.”

Guy Colclough, Team Principal says: “We are really keen to support Stewart and we want to try and help Stewart establish the TCR UK / Touring Car Trophy series in the UK. We really believe that this series is a great opportunity to drive these fantastically quick and relatively inexpensive cars on slicks and to compete against the best UK and TCR drivers. In Max, we have a brilliant talent and he has shown his abilities consistently through his Renault Clio Championship racing. Max’s driving last week at Donington last week in the TCR car has given the team lots of encouragement and whilst we know our car is slower than the sequential’s, we still expect to be competitive.”

Max Coates says “I am really excited to be driving the TCR car and supporting Stewart and the new series. I think this is a wonderful series for drivers of all types to develop and hone their skills. I really can not do justice to the quality of the TCR car. It is an incredible race car that delivers stunning lap times. I am looking forward to running in the Donington event and we hope the meeting will be fun but competitive”.
